The Iberian-Roman Festivities of Cástulo become the first Andalusian historical recreation festival to be part of the Spanish Association of Historical Festivities and Recreations (AEFRH). These festivals, in addition to having been an important incentive to promote tourism in the city, have become a hallmark for the city of Linares at the national level.
This whole process began with the invitation to Antonio Madrid, president of the AEFRH, to celebrate the third edition of the Iberian-Roman Festival of Cástulo in Linares, at the end of last June.
After the president's positive assessment, in which he highlighted the high potential of Linares as a city of historical recreation, the Department of Tourism and Historical Heritage of the City of Linares began the procedures to incorporate the Cástulo Festivities as a member of this national association.
A historical file has been prepared, provided by the Association, where the entire historical nature of the Cástulo festivities is explained and the historical event that occurred is narrated as well as a description of the activities carried out during the celebration of this event.
With all the information collected, the dossier was sent to the Miguel de Cervantes European University, in Valladolid, where the historical level of the celebration was assessed.
From that moment, and with the approval of the entire Board of Directors, made up of the rest of the members of the association, the request for the Ibero-Roman Festivities of Cástulo was presented to the ordinary assembly of the Association, where it was approved to become part officially of the Spanish Association of Festivities and Historical Recreations.
Thanks to the inclusion of the Ibero Roman Festivities of Cástulo within this association, Linares and the Archaeological Ensemble of Cástulo will be recognized at national and European level, since currently the president of the AEFRH, Antonio Madrid, is the Spanish national vice president of the Assembly of the European Confederation of Historical Festivals (Confédération Européenne des Fêtes et Manifestations Historiques (CEFMH)).
As has been shown in other cities and parties that are members of this association, thanks to the inclusion in this association and the repercussion that this entails, the participation of citizens and foreigners in these events has been growing over the years, consolidating in a way The celebration of these recreations is popular and massive, with very positive effects and consequences for the towns and / or cities where they are held.
Therefore, the Ibero Roman Festival of Cástulo is a unique means to recover and promote the cultural heritage of Linar del Río, recovering tradition and favoring the hospitality sector and increasing tourism.
The Department of Tourism has established an annual date for the celebration of the Cástulo Festival. The date chosen for this event will be the first weekend of June.
